Talent Show

I mentioned in my previous post that Greta had taken her first steps on Monday. Yesterday she took six steps in a row. Today, we caught her on video taking 4, possibly 5 steps depending on your point of view. She is not yet nine months old. Can I get a "holy shit" over here?

I am fully aware that early walking does not correlate to higher intelligence, stronger athletic ability, or anything really. And for many practical, logistical and safety reasons I am not thrilled with having an early walker. That said,  it is hard to watch your baby hit a milestone this early and not feel yourself bursting with pride! Seamus also started walking just before 9 months, and I will probably always wonder how this aspect of his temperament would have manifested itself as he grew up, so the fact that Greta is progressing on his timeline has a certain redemptive and healing quality to it.

Not to be outdone, Gus is cultivating some talents of his own, as you can see from the video below. He is just starting to stand independently, so I think he is probably about a month behind Greta on the walking front. He's also about 3 pounds heavier and a couple of inches taller, so he has a lot more freight to move than his little sister.
